What Is the Gifted Lawyer?
There is something missing from legal education.
Every law school in this country does a brilliant job of teaching you what to study. The cases. The statutes. The IRAC formula. The Socratic method.
But here is what almost nobody teaches you:
How to become the version of yourself who can actually thrive—in the classroom, in the courtroom, and in the career you’ve spent years preparing for.
The greatest lawyers are not just well-versed in law. They are well-versed in human. They understand something about themselves and others that goes far beyond what any textbook can teach.
I call this person the Gifted Lawyer.
The Gifted Lawyer is not the lawyer who fits the mold. The Gifted Lawyer is the lawyer who changes what the mold looks like.
Who Is the Gifted Lawyer?
The Gifted Lawyer is the aspiring or practicing attorney who is intelligent, intuitive, and multidimensional—but who has often been measured by metrics that miss their most powerful gifts.
They lead with emotional intelligence. They trust their intuition as a professional instrument. They use all of their gifts—not just their intellect—as tools.
They are the attorney who felt called to this profession and who refuses to let any standardized test, any dismissive comment, or any toxic work culture tell them they don’t belong.
They design a career that is as multidimensional as they are.
Every Book in This Series Is a Chapter in the Gifted Lawyer’s Journey.
And wherever you are in that journey right now—whether you’re still deciding if law school is for you, or you’re in the thick of it, or you’re a practicing attorney trying to figure out what’s next—there is a version of this story for you.
Book 1 is for the aspiring attorney who knows the calling is real but hasn’t said yes to it yet. It will give them the courage and the clarity to make that decision from their truth, not from fear.
Book 2 is for the aspiring attorney who is ready to commit and needs the exact roadmap—from LSAT prep to personal statements to financial planning to the moment they open the acceptance letter.
Book 3 is for the law student who is inside the fire right now. Who is fighting imposter syndrome and comparisonitis and perfectionism while simultaneously trying to learn a new language, build a professional network, and figure out what kind of lawyer they want to become.
Book 4 is for the attorney who crossed the finish line and is standing at the threshold of the rest of their life—bar exam in front of them, career just beginning, and all the possibilities and pressures of what comes next.
Together, they are the complete origin story of the Gifted Lawyer.
Together, they are the book I wish I’d had.
I have walked every step of this path. I graduated law school over a decade ago—after a dean told me I would never survive the first semester because of my LSAT score, and then, years later, asked me to speak at graduation. Along the way, I worked as a law student librarian, where I quietly collected every study strategy, survival secret, and piece of mentor wisdom that now lives in these pages. Since then I have passed the bar on my first attempt, practiced as an attorney, left private practice for public service, became the youngest and first female Court Clerk ever elected in my hometown, and taught pre-law as a professor. I have never fit into one box. I spent years mentoring the women who came after me—the ones who don't either. I wrote this series because no one wrote it for me.
Wherever you are in your journey—the right book is waiting for you.
